Position Overview
The Technical Director is the central technical leader for complex events. This role reviews and approves the production approach, coordinates department heads, aligns technical systems with the run of show, leads rehearsals and show calls when assigned, manages technical risk, and keeps clients and producers informed as conditions change.
What you will do
- Review scope, drawings, system plans, schedules, staffing, and technical risk.
- Coordinate audio, video, lighting, staging, rigging, streaming, and communications leads.
- Lead technical rehearsals, cue readiness, show communication, and contingency planning.
- Resolve cross-department conflicts and approve safe technical adjustments.
- Document outcomes and recommendations for future events.
What we are looking for
- Extensive live-event technical leadership across several production disciplines.
- Strong understanding of show control, communications, signal flow, power, rigging, and safety.
- Ability to read technical drawings and quickly evaluate operational risk.
- Confident client communication and calm leadership during high-pressure events.
- Proven judgment, organization, and accountability.
Work Arrangement
This is an active, project-based opportunity with Sound Guyz Event Solutions, Inc., based in Hartford, CT. Assignments support events throughout Connecticut and regional markets. Scheduling, travel, and project details vary by assignment and may include evenings, weekends, load-in, show operation, and strike.
