Position Overview
The Lighting Technician turns approved lighting plans into a safe, clean, and reliable system. This role prepares fixtures, installs data and power, addresses and tests equipment, supports focus and programming, operates follow spots or lighting consoles when assigned, and responds quickly to faults during rehearsals and shows.
What you will do
- Prepare and install fixtures, distribution, control, accessories, and cabling.
- Address, test, focus, and troubleshoot lighting and approved event-effects equipment.
- Follow plots, circuit schedules, patch sheets, and direction from the designer or lead.
- Maintain tidy cable paths and safe work zones during load-in and operation.
- Inspect, clean, and return equipment in show-ready condition.
What we are looking for
- Working knowledge of DMX, fixture addressing, power distribution, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to read lighting paperwork and follow safe overhead-work procedures.
- Comfort with ladders or lifts when properly trained and authorized.
- Reliable availability for event schedules and physically active work.
- Clear communication and careful equipment handling.
Work Arrangement
This is an active, project-based opportunity with Sound Guyz Event Solutions, Inc., based in Hartford, CT. Assignments support events throughout Connecticut and regional markets. Scheduling, travel, and project details vary by assignment and may include evenings, weekends, load-in, show operation, and strike.
