Position Overview
The Camera Operator frames and captures live images that support the director and tell the event story clearly. This role prepares cameras and support gear, checks focus and exposure, follows shot assignments and intercom cues, maintains visual continuity, and works professionally around presenters, performers, and audiences.
What you will do
- Build, balance, test, and operate assigned camera and support equipment.
- Maintain focus, framing, exposure, composition, and steady movement.
- Follow the technical director or producer through intercom and shot lists.
- Protect sightlines, cable paths, and audience experience.
- Assist with strike, media handling, and equipment inspection.
What we are looking for
- Live camera-operating experience or a strong portfolio of comparable work.
- Understanding of framing, focus, exposure, movement, and live-show etiquette.
- Ability to follow cues accurately and remain composed during long programs.
- Experience with tripod, handheld, pedestal, or PTZ systems as applicable.
- Professional communication and careful equipment handling.
Work Arrangement
This is an active, project-based opportunity with Sound Guyz Event Solutions, Inc., based in Hartford, CT. Assignments support events throughout Connecticut and regional markets. Scheduling, travel, and project details vary by assignment and may include evenings, weekends, load-in, show operation, and strike.
