Position Overview
The CAD Designer creates detailed production drawings in Vectorworks to communicate event, staging, rigging, lighting, video, and audio requirements. This role converts production concepts, venue information, and field measurements into accurate floor plans, elevations, equipment layouts, rigging diagrams, and installation documentation for safe and efficient execution.
What you will do
- Create and revise event plans, elevations, sections, details, and equipment layouts in Vectorworks.
- Translate site surveys, venue files, production briefs, and equipment specifications into coordinated drawings.
- Develop clear staging, rigging, lighting, video, audio, power, and audience layouts.
- Maintain drawing standards, layers, classes, symbols, title blocks, revisions, and issue dates.
- Coordinate drawings with producers, project managers, engineers, venues, and technicians.
What we are looking for
- Required practical experience using Vectorworks for event production, entertainment, architecture, or a related field.
- Portfolio demonstrating accurate technical drawings, layouts, and documentation.
- Strong spatial reasoning, drafting standards, measurement, and detail management.
- Ability to interpret venue plans, technical specifications, and production requirements.
- Clear communication and reliable control of revisions and deadlines.
Work Arrangement
This is an active, project-based opportunity with Sound Guyz Event Solutions, Inc., based in Hartford, CT. Assignments support events throughout Connecticut and regional markets. Scheduling, travel, and project details vary by assignment and may include evenings, weekends, load-in, show operation, and strike.
