Position Overview
The Backline Technician ensures artist instruments and related equipment are correctly prepared, placed, connected, tuned, and maintained. This role works from riders and stage plots, coordinates closely with artists, stage management, and audio, supports fast changeovers, and resolves equipment issues discreetly during rehearsals and performances.
What you will do
- Advance, prepare, transport, set, tune, test, and strike backline equipment.
- Follow stage plots, input lists, artist riders, and changeover schedules.
- Coordinate instrument connections and placement with audio and stage teams.
- Support performers professionally during soundcheck and show operation.
- Inspect, clean, document, and return backline equipment after each event.
What we are looking for
- Hands-on knowledge of common instruments, amplifiers, keyboards, drums, and accessories.
- Ability to tune, troubleshoot, and handle artist equipment with care.
- Clear backstage communication and discretion around performers and clients.
- Fast, organized work during rehearsals and changeovers.
- Flexible availability and safe equipment-handling practices.
Work Arrangement
This is an active, project-based opportunity with Sound Guyz Event Solutions, Inc., based in Hartford, CT. Assignments support events throughout Connecticut and regional markets. Scheduling, travel, and project details vary by assignment and may include evenings, weekends, load-in, show operation, and strike.
